Check your mailbox: ABS urges residents to prepare for the Census

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is urging residents to check their mailboxes for Census instructions ahead of Census night on Tuesday, 11 August.

Most households will receive instructions to complete the Census online. Those who prefer a paper form can request one.

“Census instructions will start arriving in mailboxes over the coming weeks, so we’re asking households to check their mail.” said Emily Walter, Census national spokesperson.

“Once you receive your instructions, you can complete your Census straight away if you already know where you’ll be on Census night. You don’t need to wait until 11 August.”

Residents who receive a paper Census form by mail or from a Census field officer can still choose to complete the Census online.

The ABS expects about 85 per cent of Census forms to be completed online this year, with the average household taking about 30 minutes to finish the form.
