Teenage girl charged after elderly woman stabbed at Port Macquarie

A 72-year-old woman has been flown to hospital with a stab wound after an alleged domestic violent assault at a Port Macquarie home, with a teenage girl now facing court.

Emergency services were called to a home in Brierley Avenue just after 9.30pm on Saturday 15 August, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended and found the 72-year-old woman suffering a stab wound. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Port Macquarie Hospital in a serious condition, before being flown to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where she was charged with reckless wounding, domestic violence related.

She was granted conditional bail to reappear in court on Monday 7 September.
