Man charged after alleged assault investigation in Port Macquarie

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in Port Macquarie late last year.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Buller and Hollingsworth streets about 10.20pm on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, following reports of an assault.

Police were told a man was walking along Buller Street when occupants of a passing car allegedly threw objects at him.

An argument allegedly followed before a man who exited the vehicle assaulted the 45-year-old man.

The vehicle left a short time later and emergency services attended the scene.

The injured man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He was later transferred to Sydney Eye Hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries and has since been discharged.

A crime scene was established and officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District began an investigation.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 45-year-old man at Moree Police Station on Thursday, 14 May.

He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail before being granted strict conditional bail in Bail Division Court 5 on Thursday. He is due to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on 27 May 2026.
