Adults-only art party takes over Coffs Harbour’s YAM

Coffs Harbour’s art museum is staying up past bedtime, with an adults-only night of art, music, and theatre headlined by acclaimed duo The Huxleys.

YAM Up Late returns to Yarrila Arts and Museum on Friday, 13 November, from 6pm to 8pm.

The free after-hours event is open only to guests aged 18 and over. It will turn YAM into a colourful celebration of contemporary art, self-expression, and community, with exclusive exhibition access, live music, creative activities, cocktails, and more.

Artistic duo Will and Garrett Huxley, known as The Huxleys, will bring their exhibition Bad Sports to life with a live theatre performance.

Bad Sports explores growing up queer in a culture that prizes sporting achievement.

Guests will also get evening access to four current exhibitions: The Salt Lake by Murray Fredericks, Snakes and Mirrors by Petrina Hicks, Bad Sports by The Huxleys, and FLUX by Coastal Claymakers.

The night will feature music from DJ Glitterous, adult face painting by Glitter Witch, a performance by the Harmony for Humanity Choir, skaters from Coffs Coast Derby, and free artmaking inspired by the exhibitions.

The YAM Bar will be pouring King Tide craft beers, Emerald Island Gin and Critters Distillery cocktails, and Saxby’s Sodas.

“It’s been great to see YAM come alive outside its usual hours with night-time activations,” said City of Coffs Harbour Mayor Nikki Williams.

Entry is free, with food and drinks available to buy. Guests are invited to dress to impress.
