North Coast Times is an independent regional news service operated as a social good enterprise for the benefit of the community.
We are part of a movement of hyper-local digital news outlets springing up across the country to fill the gap left by big media abandoning regional areas. We are a member of LINA – the Local Independent News Association – which is a body of similar hyper-local publishers who agree to adhere to high editorial standards, and a member of the Australian Press Council.
Our primary coverage area is the 13 local government areas of the North Coast, from the Great Lakes of the Mid North Coast in the south, to the Northern Rivers and Tweed in the north, with a focus on the central part of the coast around Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. The area is home to over 640,000 people.
North Coast Times launched in 2025, created by the team behind New England Times which launched in 2022.
